Thundermoon – “Wild”

/

The debut single from Edinburgh-based trio Thundermoon, “Wild” impresses in its thematic escapism and lush synth-driven expanses. Initial plucky synth-driven momentum complement lyrics with a steady stream-of-conscious feeling, aligning with descriptive explorations of “the wild” — in contrast with the busy, bustling city. A blaring, nocturnal-friendly synth insertion during the “I take a tumble,” stirs, wholly embracing the “follow the breeze,” ethos, separating wholly from the city-minded rigidity.

“Wild” plays compellingly like an antidote to society’s need for structure, neglecting the beauty of traversing nature with friends — leading to spontaneous conversations and creative pursuits. The colorful switch-up around 02:30 proves particularly captivating, establishing a dreamier immersion amidst the debonair vocal alternation. As the trio aptly states: “It’s about laughing away the pain, having an adventure with your pals, putting your toes in the water, and climbing trees.”

Look out for Thundermoon’s EP later this month. They recently released the single “No Regrets,” as well.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of September 2023’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
