Dance the Misery – “Tie-down”

Embracing a moody, jangling post-punk inspiration, “Tie-down” is another success from Nashville-based project Dance the Misery, impressing recently with the track “Too Shy.” A steady percussive pulse and jangly guitars concoct a brooding appeal, weaving in and out as vocals reflect on “slipping away,” with a nocturnal spirit. Escalated guitar emotion conjures past the one-minute mark, as vocals re-emerge in singing “we could be carefree if we’re tied down.” “Tie-down” is further evidence of the project’s melodic and aesthetical strengths.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.
