Hairpin – “Rearrange”

/

NYC band Hairpin impresses with their sixth single “Rearrange,” representing the second song of a five-track EP, out this fall. Initially written as an acoustic ballad, “Rearrange” expanded into an enjoyably fervent rock success, featuring a new chorus and addition of charismatic percussion and guitars. The final result shines, mixed by Claudius Mittendorfer.

A bass-fronted intrigue aligns with the introductory vocals, remarking they’ll “turn the page anyway,” into a title-touting refrain with angsty ’90s alt-rock nostalgia. “Just tell me about my place in your world,” the vocals further with lush reflections, launching into an ardent guitar-led “creeping,” sequence — hooking with its delectably raucous intensity. “Rearrange” is a wholly satisfying rocker from Hairpin, whose EP we’re certainly anticipating.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.
