Honeybadger – “Wakka”

/

Brighton-based trio Honeybadger unleash a ferocious rock charisma on new single “Wakka.” Thematically capturing how “actions always speak louder than words,” the single builds excitably from the get-go with a fervent onslaught of guitars. Alt-rock and punk-friendly composures intertwine, as the opening vocals — “can see what you’re saying,” — exude a compelling clarity into a melodic array of crunchy guitar distortion and panting percussive dexterity. The “make me believe,” refrain drives to a wholly satiating conclusion.

Comprising brothers Joe and Eddy alongside their friend Luca, Honeybadger take inspiration from the likes of The White Stripes, Them Crooked Vultures, and Drenge — embracing a sound that balances heavy rock charisma with a commendable vocal range, spanning from debonair contemplation to raucously invigorating appeal. “Wakka” marks their last single of 2023, as the band gears up for another stream of single releases in 2024.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.
