Lucas Delacroix – “se quien sos”

//

“se quien sos” is a powerful psych-rocker, meshing tranquil vocal immersion with warming layers of guitar distortion. The track comes via the artist Lucas Delacroix, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and now based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Lyrics ruminate on changes in location and self, particularly reflecting on the artist’s life as an Argentinian living in Denmark, and the differences apparent in day-to-day living.

Subdued vocals follow an expressive layering of guitars, echoing a comforting distortion reminiscent of ’90s alt-rock. The dreamy vocal composure adds tot hat throwback charm. The two-minute turn sees twangier guitars and emotive vocals converge for a wholly memorable sequence, also standing out a minute later, as a percussive fill traverses into calming vocals. The tonal presentation reminds fondly of a cross between Malajube and Smith Westerns, with some psych-friendly and ’90s alt-rock nostalgia.

The standout track comes via the new EP, otoños de mi mente, streaming below:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.
