suffer fools – “Almost Beautiful”

/

“Almost Beautiful” meshing glistening guitars and bleakly gripping lyrics for a nostalgic pull. The track comes via suffer fools, a project from Vancouver Island, Canada — centered on Debbie Debased, a “former child star, current trainwreck, future pop messiah.” The vocals convey a retrospective conveying of “watching a dream die” — complemented by buzzing textures and jangly guitars. “I was almost famous, universally adored,” they let out. “I was almost something to you, I was almost yours.”

The “almost,” lyrical remarks prove resonating throughout, capturing a sense of over-rumination on the past. Melodic bursts of jangling guitars and buzz-y backing distortion complement throughout. “Almost Beautiful” is a steady success from suffer fools.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of October 2023’ Spotify playlist.
