Damien Baby – “Hey Honey Bunny”

/

“Hey Honey Bunny” is a track out today from Damien Baby, a project fronted by Devon Mello, an artist based in Providence, Rhode Island. Soothing brass and bouncy piano establish a classic-sounding singer/songwriter arsenal, conjuring the act’s Harry Nilsson influence.

The playful title-bearing refrain enamors alongside hazy organs, as an additional vocal layer arises alongside enthusiastic brass. “The summer that we both grew our hair out long,” the vocals begin thereafter, continuing the enjoyably retrospective flair. Soaring guitars and enveloping brass conclude this effort with a cathartic immersion, putting a bow on this lovably throwback production.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2023’ Spotify playlist.
