Jespfur – “nil”

/

Amsterdam-based artist Jespfur (Jesper Vervoort) seamlessly navigates between distortion-touched brass segments and sparser minimalism on riveting new single “nil.” The track and its accompanying video was created solely by Jespfur, and kickstarts an upcoming music project coming in January.

Chugging distortion and glistening twangs intertwine, falling into a mellow acoustic-laden sequence, accompanied by a subdued vocal presence. A gripping tonal escalation takes from there. Multiple vocal layers beckon as electric and acoustic guitars intermingle, supplemented by moody brass past the one-minute mark — fondly reminiscent of King Krule in its darkly enveloping sound. “nil” is a stylish, introspective standout from Jespfur.
