Jonathan Stoye – “Midnight Snack”

/

“Midnight Snack” is a resonating single from Jonathan Stoye, also the guitarist in Framing Hanley and the bassist in The Infamous HER. The production on this solo effort conjures a pop-rock hookiness with a sturdy ’90s nostalgia — reminding of later-era Manic Street Preachers in its stylish rise. The erupting “bad habits,” multi-layered vocal charisma captivates into a delectably hooky rise, with the organ backing complementing the “takes me back,” retrospective warmness.

Stoye elaborates further on the single: “I inherited an unquenchable trait from my Grandfather; waking up in the middle of the night in desperate needs of snacks. This eerie track tells the love/hate relationship I have with one of my worst habits.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Best of November 2023’ Spotify playlist.
