A darkening, soulful mystique is apparent throughout “The Kid,” a new track from Milwaukee-based duo Beauty Steps, via their debut album, Show Me Where. “Do you think you might ever wanna…” the vocals sporadically let out to start, emitting a smoothly entrancing quality into piano-laden chilliness. A late-night, jazzy demeanor is apparent in the piano arrangements and dreamy backing vocal textures, with the “that you,” refrain proving especially memorable into delectably twangy guitars. “The Kid” is full of stylish savvy and melodic immersion.
