SIR-VERE – “Destroya”

/

“Destroya” succeeds in balancing hypnotic introspection and buzzing, industrial-touched rock vigor. The track comes via SIR-VERE, a band from Milton Keynes, UK — and their forthcoming LOVESCOPE re-issue album, releasing on January 26th. They describe the release’s thematic aim as “a snapshot of the alarm and paranoia of life under Covid lockdown, with nature wrath’s and society’s failures combining for maximum oppression.”

Crisp percussion and smooth-grooving bass drive into spacey synth buzzing, casting a darkly industrial nostalgia in its gripping soundscape. The vocals’ emergence eases in as the rhythm section assumes a standalone presence, with grimy guitar additions casting an intoxicating spell as the vocals let out “I can’t breathe.” The refrain is complemented by a distant-sounding vocal reflection, adding to the infectious allure. The original’s dark rock ardency compels throughout, and its release also comes with compelling remixes by Rory Hoy, Vodzilla, and Sonale. Check them out:
