Clocktopus – “My Riders”

/

Full of clanging intrigue — with a banjo-led sense of foreboding that leads into a gripping chorus — “My Riders” is a recent single from Amsterdam-based band Clocktopus. Pop grandiosity, bluesy hip-hop snarls, and brooding rock converge for a colorful and varied production — firmly emphasizing the act’s knack for adventurous production and melodic successes.

The band describe the track as “a celebration of friendship, making music and the combination of those two.” The “my riders ride,” sequence and “it’s gonna be all right,” reassurance plays like an anthemic ode to the power of companions, with string-laden whirring and escalating vocal fervency combining to further the invigorating moment — bearing a fond aesthetical likeness to black midi and Man Man. “My Riders” is a creative, charismatic showing from Clocktopus.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
