Joe Holt, Emily Anderson, Kat Kennedy – “Please Don’t Change”

/

A heartrending track reflecting a desire to not be left behind, “Please Don’t Change” is a stirring collaboration from Joe Holt, Emily Anderson, and Kat Kennedy. The particular rendition above is performed live at Roxbury Station, weaving Holt’s comforting vocal lead with ghostly accompanying backing, sending chills during the “please don’t change,” pleading amidst frolicking acoustics and wintry piano. It’s a beautiful showcase in heartrending, serene songwriting from this talented trio.

Holt says the following about the track:

This is a song about not wanting to be left behind; not wanting your friends to outgrow you. Some of the lyrics are about the friends I’m singing with: “Just don’t lose your dumb humor, all those terrible jokes” is about Emily, and the awful puns she tells Kat and me while we’re driving on tour.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
