An electronic pop stunner with nocturnal atmospheric mystique, “Fever Dream” comes via Mystery Friends, a Washington, D.C.-based band. A booming bass line and reflective percussion swell into a delectably eerie synth line, fading as the lushly confident vocal presence emerges; there’s a fond likeness to TOPS as the vocals ascend during the “every single breath,” sequence. The spacey synth tone delightfully re-emerges upon the title-touting sequence, strutting a lush entrancement into the bustling bass-y emphasis in the ensuing verses.
