Orange Animal – “Clear”

/

An orchestral mystique combines with a fervent alt-rock drive on “Clear,” a compelling new single from Cleveland-based trio Orange Animal. Formed in 2017, the band released their first track — “Can’t Love You Anymore” — in June 2020. Multiple singles impressed in the years following, and now “Clear” represents their latest success Per the band, “Clear” tells “the story of an imagined conversation with someone deeply loved but forever lost.”

An eerie combination of eerie strings and subdued bass traverse into a sullen vocal tone. “My god it’s been so long, all of these years,” they commiserate, echoing a palpable yearning into the commanding “was it ever made clear?” ardency amidst distorted guitar murmurs. The “so quiet,” string-laden verses enthrall into the more erupting rock ferocity of the ensuing verses, propelling a cinematic and emotional production from Orange Animal.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
