Yodashe – “MRKTPLC”

/

A chilling, nocturnal electronic soundscape lingers with delectably unsettling appeal on “MRKTPLC,” a new single from London-based artist Yodashe. An eclectic array of influences are apparent; haunting darkwave is evident in the warier, withdrawn vocal section, while the preceding punk-tinged emotiveness contrasts effectively. Per the artist, “MRKTPLC” serves as “a thought-provoking exploration of artistic production in the era of social media and algorithms.”

“When you find me in the marketplace, am I what you have been looking for?” the intriguing vocals let out, excelling alongside buzzing synths and percussive pit-pattering into a murkily ominous “one more movement,” shift; this darkly invigorating twist is thoroughly compelling, especially when evolving into the finale. There, a string-laden triumphant resonance engrosses alongside rhythmic trickles, descending into a haunting flickering of synths as the striking “MRKTPLC” concludes. Yodashe shows ample stylishness and inventive melodic appeal throughout this success.

This track and others can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Electronic’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
