Ruby Moon – “Desolate”

//

NYC-based artist Ruby Moon unveils a nocturnal, enjoyably eerie mixture of post-punk and dream-pop on “Desolate.” A pulsing bass line, reflective of the former style, pairs with a steady vocal composure and space-y synth lingering. Escalating guitar tones around the mid-point — “she goes to my house,” — carry the momentum further, as chirp-y guitar twangs align with sturdy, murky bass undercurrent for a thoroughly atmospheric engrossment. We’re excited to hear what’s next from Ruby Moon, whose penchant for soundscape and melody is palpable here.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
