The Blindfolded SeaMonkeys – “Lion In My Backyard”

/

A tripped-out, dynamic rock enthrallment shows throughout “Lion In My Backyard,” which represents the debut single from The Blindfolded SeaMonkeys, the Ohio-based project of Matt Denham. “There’s a lion in my backyard,” the vocals repeat alongside chirpy guitar hookiness. “And he’s coming for you.” The vocals’ shift from debonair scene-setting — that of a lion in the backyard! — into a contagious, ardent refrain builds into a riveting guitar solo, enveloping during the final minute. “This song is a ballad about my cat tripping, thinking he’s lion!” Denham explains; the experience is captured in fantastic, melodic form here.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
