townsppl – “The Neighborhood”

/

Ascending from steady folk contemplation into a melodically jubilant hookiness, “The Neighborhood” is a recent single from townsppl, the Pittsburgh-based project of singer/songwriter Alex Stanton. The release represents the first single from upcoming album Beyond the Garden Wall.

A minimalist vocal and acoustic guitar initial pairing ascend steadily into a bouncy rhythmic accompaniment, amidst lyrics that muse on the fleeting nature of passing time and the erosion of nostalgic comforts. “The neighborhood is all but gone,” the vocals admit in the chorus, bolstered by playful piano and joyous vocal accompaniments that provide a replay-inducing brightness. “The Neighborhood” leaves a catchy, memorable impression from townsppl.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
