Hays Dowdy – “Inside the City”

The debut single from Hays Dowdy, “Inside the City” struts a bursting rock charisma that balances glistening sophisti-pop intrigue with anthemic escalations. “We can still grow and learn from each other too,” lush vocal layers let out in the verses, with shades of Prefab Sprout. The ensuing chorus shines with an accessibly bright enamoring, culminating with ample enthusiasm. A mid-point guitar solo furthers the melodic entrancement, showing strong throughout the memorable “Inside the City.”

The artist elaborates on the track:

“This song is about an optimistic epiphany in reaction to a chapter of life ending. It is written from the perspective of an omnivert, so the verses are quiet, introverted, and introspective, while the choruses are loud, extroverted, and in party mode. The artwork reflects this dynamic as the left side of the painting is of the calm, tranquil ocean, and the right side is a brightly lit, colorful amusement park.”

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
