Maybird – “Carry Me Away”

/

A serenely hypnotic charm flows through “Carry Me Away,” a new single from Maybird. The band — originally from Rochester, New York — have impressed in the past with singles like “The Story” and “Open Your Eyes,” and continue to enamor with “Carry Me Away.”

Gentle guitar trickling and woodwind flourishes lead into caressing vocals, emitting blissful lyrics that reference sunlight and breezes that “feel just like home.” A haunting title-touting resonance follows. “I’m captive to your majesty,” the vocals further, furthering lyrical themes concerning the “depth of love,” — though also with “a dark undertone coming from the perspective of someone who is captive to their attraction,” per the band.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
