UK-based artist Hilgrove Kenrick presents a beautiful array of piano-based compositions on new album Fragments: Pt. 1, described as providing “a glimpse into a quieter world.” Kenrick has written award-winning music for television, film, and games — and that knack for atmospheric, stirring productions continues in memorable form on Fragments: Pt. 1.

“Fragments: No. 1, Solitary” opens the album with hypnotic immersion, weaving delicate piano adornments with sporadic momentum alongside bristling pulses. A calming, wordless vocal presence sends chills as the conclusion nears. “No. 2, Transfer” proves gorgeous, as well, in its incorporation of lush piano tones that show an artful precision in their momentary pauses and tactful spaciousness.

A multitude of highlights continue from there. The comforting vocal element returns in “No. 4, Slightly,” while “No. 9, Miasma” is amongst the more effervescent tonal showings — consuming in its trickling airiness. Fragments: Pt. 1 is an impressive showcase in piano-driven atmospherics from Hilgrove Kenrick.

“Fragments: No. 1, Solitary” is also featured in the genre-based, best-of Spotify compilation Obscure Ambient.
