James Halon – “No Matter How Far”

/

An electronic pop single out today from California-based artist James Halon, “No Matter How Far” captivates with a heady, atmospheric sound. Lush vocal entrancement and colorful synths lead the way, with shades of various other elements, which — per the artist — includes AFFKT, The xx, Interpol, ’80s new-wave, and more. Electro-pop and progressive house remain the primary forces on this gem from Halon, who is based in Riverside, CA.

Trickling synths and click-clacking percussion swell into a spacey illumination. Wordless vocal samples craft a meditative spell in their pulsating blissfulness, accompanied enjoyably by a twinkling synth addition. The lead vocals enter with a serene cohesion, and a hypnotic, melodic spell takes hold throughout. The track is a part of Halon’s newly released EP, Til the End of the Earth:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
