Sun Mahshene – “New Shores”

Dublin-based band Sun Mahshene blend soaring rock immediacy with atmospheric shoegaze inspiration on new single “New Shoes.” The release follows up previous single “Reverie,” establishing ample momentum for a band with a clear talent for atmospheric and melodic productions. It certainly doesn’t hurt that the track is mixed by Mark Gardener, from Ride.

An anthemic swirl of guitars accompany a melodic vocal presence, lyrically emitting a sense of being lost in one’s mind for awhile. The textured, atmospheric guitars pulse with consistent allure alongside the soaring vocals, stirring at the one-minute turn while bidding farewell and navigating toward newer shores. “It’s time to go,” they further during the verses, ascending seamlessly into another hooky sequence with ascending vocals and shimmering guitar vibrancy. “New Shores” is a compelling success from Sun Mahshene.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.

We discovered this release via MusoSoup, as part of the artist’s promotional campaign.
