Flight Attendant – “Anime”

/

Ahead of the band’s album, out next week, “Anime” is an enveloping track from Flight Attendant. Captivating in moments of both string-laden elegance and electro-pop foreboding, the track’s production showcases why the band continues to rise — selling out shows across the country for good reason, in addition to drawing praise at festivals like SXSW 2020 and the Nashville Film Festival.

“Lay your head on my shoulder,” an ambiguous swell of dreamy vocals and throbbing synths begin the track. “Lay around watching anime,” signals an intensifying build. The “gotta keep those feelings,” turn invigorates in the reflective strings, conjuring a sort of “Acrylic Afternoons” nostalgia. “Anime” enthralls in its range of quainter electro-laden emotion and glimpses of chamber-pop spaciousness.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
