Alison Martino – “Back Here”

/

Stirring in its range of solemn acoustic-set contemplations and gorgeous orchestral additions, “Back Here” is a standout folk track from Alison Martino. The Los Angeles-based artist describes the track as “about losing track of time – One day you wake up, and life is different.” The track’s sincere, introspective qualities consume throughout. “It’s a reflection of genuinely happy memories from my past, shared with people who are major parts of me that just aren’t there anymore,” Martino explains. “As seasons continue to change, placing me even further away, I still find moments connecting me to that part of my life.”

“Sun is setting too early, my feet are cold in the sand,” Martino sings amidst solemn acoustic guitar, lamenting on the fleeting nature of a warm summer and changing seasons as flourishing woodwinds arrive thereafter. Wordless, dreamy vocals intermingle thereafter with twinkling piano for another immersive sequence. The mid-point’s “come back and look for you every year,” ruminations add a rock-touched distortion underneath, intensifying in emotion and soul-searching intensity. “Back Here” is a resonating, heartfelt piece of songwriting from Alison Martino.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
