Candytuft – “Wasp”

//

A colorful, psychedelic rock success from Candytuft, “Wasp” represents a standout debut track from Asheville, NC-based project. A jumpy intrigue sets off the track, where wailing guitars hazy shimmers traverse into a wordless vocal daze. The harmonious “again,” vocal refrain is especially magnetic thereafter, injecting an organ-laden warmness amidst melodic guitar swipes.

Elsewhere, a psych-folk guitar glistening rides past the two-minute mark, and into another segment with gorgeous backing vocal impacts. The track’s second half — with its “reap what you sow,” lush smoothness — plays with a more reflective calmness, enjoyably. “Wasp” is a fantastic output from Candytuft.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
