Idea the Artist – “The Love You Need”

/

A soulful melding of electronic and chamber-pop delights, “The Love You Need” is a riveting success from Guatemalan-American artist Idea the Artist, who describes the release as “about impermanence, and that what you have within you is enough to sustain you through any change or challenge.” Production from Akiyoshi Ehara (of The Seshen) proves magnetic, spanning illustrious string arrangements and simmering synth atmospherics.

An emotively dynamic vocal prowess also envelops, from the “you can always trust in me,” hooky refrain to more vulnerable admissions of anticipating for the love one needs. “I’ll be waiting for a sign, but I won’t be hanging on,” the vocals soar, compelling in both those moments of expanded vigor and the dreamy conclusion, where wind-chiming intrigue moves with ethereality alongside wordless vocal haunts. “The Love You Need” is a thorough success from Idea the Artist.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
