Juno Empire – “Seeds”

/

A radiantly psychedelic pop delight from Juno Empire, “Seeds” enamors in its effervescent synth drives and existential thematic pulse — playing as a lush, introspective anthem about reclaiming your place in time. The music project of Alexander Thomas infuses the psych immediacy of Tame Impala with the emotional brightness of MGMT and Foster the People, pairing philosophical contemplation and hooky approachability.

Thomas explains: “The song is about this transformative power we can tap into within our minds, but also this strange relationship people have with time — where events unfold in a seemingly linear fashion, but the past can be re-contextualized, the present can be shifted through perspective, and the future is ever changing based on where we shine our light.”

The “every moment,” lyrical pulses glide within bursts of synths and a debonair bass undercurrent, dazzling as a more prancing synth danceability emerges as the vocals momentarily fade. “Seeds” is another replay-inducing delight from Juno Empire, who also caught our ears with the excellent single “Gold Eyes” last year.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
