Reverliee – “Connect”

/

Berlin-based artist Reverliee crafts a confessional rock edge on new single “Connect,” which seamlessly expands from atmospheric pop-forward contemplation into a rousing drive to connect. Thematically, “Connect” artfully explores the raw tension between desire and self-preservation, capturing the consuming need to be seen, even at the cost of losing oneself.

A pulsing bass thump complements a suave vocal intrigue to start. “You are such a joker,” they let out before an enjoyably melodic expanse, where moody guitar trickles and wordless backing vocal adornments continue the climactic drive. A direct lyrical plea — “I wanna connect!” — arrives thereafter, as the track embraces a heavier rock vigor.

Sentiments of not being able to “take any more,” ensue in the verses with a late-night introspection, then gearing up again into the rousing rock-ready chorus. A striking, haunting electro-rock bridge takes hold at the two-minute turn, especially — venturing thereafter into a spoken-word vocal feeling that emanates alongside a ghostly, higher-pitched reflection. “Connect” presents a grippingly melodic structural ascent, marking a thorough success from Reverliee.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
