Toomi – “Flutter” + “Overrun” + “Paperclips”

/

Brooklyn-based artist Toomi captivates with a sound that fuses warmth and emotional contemplation, bridging dreamy rock and shades of sophisti-pop with replay-inducing impact. This trio of recent tracks is exemplary of the artist’s stellar songwriting and grasp of atmosphere.

The first release from this trio of successes, “Flutter” moves with a breezy charm as jangling guitars complement an introspective vocal calmness. “Spinning around, passing ships in the dead of night,” Toomi sings as a string-laden resonance lingers beneath, attaining a brighter re-emergence as the guitars complement a “years fly by,” vocal introspection — feeling reflective on a by-chance meeting of fate, and the ensuing journey of whether or not it stays intact.

Another success, “Overrun” enamors with a sophisti-pop suaveness. The “gotta hold on,” vocal sequence stirs into the tender guitar work and illuminated mixture of twinkling keys and orchestral hints. A jazzy, lounge-set sophistication emanates from the lush guitar work, especially, and overall serene prowess. Meanwhile, the most recent of these releases in “Paperclips” plays as a delightful love song. “Wrote down what to say, line by line,” the calming vocals admit, as balmy guitar work drives into the “day I saw you,” smitten reflections. “Guess I’ll start from scratch,” the vocals ensue, building thereafter into a radiant title-touting hookiness.
