Nashville-based artist Omer Netzer shows a heartfelt entrancement on new single “Midnight Blue,” which seamlessly ventures from acoustic-set introspection into doses of twangy guitars and warming organs. “I don’t know if it’s you or the ghost that I’m seeing,” Netzer’s solemn vocals let out as the instrumentation begins to intensify, admitting “when you don’t answer, girl, I go insane.” The lyrical depictions of losing someone, and ensuing feeling of being “midnight blue,” are resonating throughout.
The standout track, which was recorded at Fame Studios and produced by David Mescon, takes inspiration from a vivid dream Netzer had — resulting in a compelling piece of songwriting, co-written with Stephen Hunley. “I had a dream about an empty house with only pictures and memories left behind,” Netzer says. “That image stayed with me, and from it came the line, ‘my sun set when I lost you, now every night feels like midnight blue.’”
The memorable track precedes an upcoming EP from Netzer, who was born in Nahariya, Israel. He returned to active duty following the October 7th attacks, serving a second combat tour, and then relocating to Nashville in early 2024. He’s currently prepping an EP with producer David “Messy” Mescon, helping to cohesively fuse Netzer’s southern-rock, country, and soul elements. “Midnight Blue” is a fantastic success, and has us firmly anticipating that EP.
