Giorgio Fazio – “FUSE (Jungle Flip)”

/

Giorgio Fazio presents a stylish, memorable re-interpretation of Hudson Mohawke’s track with consuming “FUSE (Jungle Flip).” The Lugano, Switzerland-based artist and creative director enamors with a dynamic sound balancing atmospheric allure and infectiousness — also evidenced on previously featured standout tracks like “No One Should Ever Die” and “It Felt Like Fire (But I Think It Was Just You).” “FUSE (Jungle Flip)” captures the bubbly, effervescent electronic qualities of the original, while also exuding a more exotic intrigue — where bass-y ruminations, trickling percussion, and flourishing instrumentation make for an entirely new sense of entrancement.

“If you were producing during the early SoundCloud era, you felt the impact of Hudson Mohawke in real time,” Fazio says of the original track’s influence. “Before the rise of trap kits and playlists, there was a window where tracks like FUSE shifted how we approached swing, emotion, distortion and structure.” He continues: “Revisiting FUSE now means returning to that moment where sound felt unpredictable and full of intent.”

“FUSE (Jungle Flip)” commences with a lushly absorbing spaciousness, casting ample charm in its array of glistening synths — and then developing cohesively into a brisk percussive pit-pattering. A serene orchestration re-emerges just before the one-minute turn, invoking a late-night jazz feeling as the hectic rhythmic ruminations return shortly thereafter. Vocal samples approaching the three-minute turn make for another captivating element, invigorating into a melding of most instrumentation and then a starry-eyed, serenely sating conclusion.  Giorgio Fazio’s “FUSE (Jungle Flip)” is a riveting, colorfully melodic success from start to finish.
