A shimmering rock enthusiasm glistens on “Kaleidoscope,” a resonating track from The Winter Sounds that pairs jangling guitars and radiant synths within lyrical pleas to stand up to control, oppression, and exploitation that runs rampant in today’s world. The track marks the first single from the project’s upcoming album, JUPITER, out this September. The production certainly charms in its title-touting central hook, and introspective verses — “walking on broken glass … holding you close” — that seem to echo prioritizing love and connection even during the darkest of times.
As they explain: “The song is about the beauty of diversity, kindness, inclusivity, accessibility, and sustainability, and the joy of this unique ecosystem that makes up the world and makes it wonderful. At the same time, it is a question of why these things – these values, these core ideas that push so hard for a future we can all belong to and be free in – are so fragile. The answer to the ‘why’ is of course human selfishness rooted in fear, oligarchy, and capitalist ideologies that punish everyone and wreck the planet.”
“Kaleidoscope” marks continued success from The Winter Sounds, who have caught our ears in the past with tracks like “Memory Fades” and “On the Outside.”
