“That Kind of Love” presents a harmonious, heartfelt blend of folk and pop, coming via Wes Kirkpatrick. Based in the Colorado mountains, Kirkpatrick impresses throughout his new EP of the same name, described as “a celebration of rediscovered light.” For this title track specifically, Kirkpatrick says it’s “song that came out of nowhere and brought me back to joy.”
Quaint acoustics, playful bass, and pit-pattering percussion complement an adoring vocal feeling, arising into a title-touting charm with breezy guitar twangs and serene wordless vocal backings. “That kind of love, I’d go broke to feel it,” he sings, capturing the unmistakable beauty of a love emerging out of nowhere, and giving someone a new reason to live. “This little EP is super meaningful, because it marks such a big change for me,” Kirkpatrick says. “However, it’s just the beginning. I’ve got songs piling up and I’m enjoying the wave of creativity.” We’re certainly looking forward to them.
