Whenwolves – “Aggro Crag”

/

A magnetic art-rock sound shines on “Aggro Crag,” a melodic new track from Brooklyn-based band Whenwolves. Releasing alongside a fantastic paper-puppet video, “Aggro Crag” stirs in its eclectic tonal range — traversing from the suave title-touting pulsations and ensuing “we got this in the bag” remarking, to the soaring psych-pop radiance within the “need you to break through that wall” vocal soaring segment. “I’m not some undercover criminal,” the vocals continue with enthralling charm thereafter, as the guitars continue to swell from swaying hypnotics into briskly infectious energy.

The project was formed by Bobby Lewis (lead vocals, guitar), and now includes his brother Billy Lewis (bass). “Aggro Crag” also features Kelsey Rodriguez (keys) and Max Yassky (drums). “It’s about taking on a Herculean task—whether it’s a green mountain or a white whale—and knowing you can’t do it alone,” Bobby says of the track. “It sort of goes beyond the typical ‘love song’ tropes.”

Check out the track’s music video, which was crafted, directed, and produced entirely by the Lewis brothers:

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
