Another moody rock success from Hamburg, Germany-based project Black Leopard, “Untouchable” pairs themes of personal detachment with an atmospheric sound that excels in both nostalgic synth haunts and twangy guitar delights. “It’s summer and I love her, and she loves me too,” a smitten vocal presence lets out initially as the guitars and synths mingle cohesively, and into an admission that “but I’m always on the dark side of the moon.”
The track continues to consume in its introspective lyrical appeal, admitting “I know I could easily reach happiness” though describing a mental blockade of sorts — that results in feelings of numbness and those aforementioned themes of detachment. An acoustic-set mid-point presents a calmer atmospheric allure, amidst a title-bearing refrain, and into a final synth-charged ardency and final admission: “I hope she’ll stay forever, close by my side.” “Untouchable” is another powerful showing from Black Leopard, who also caught our ears with the track “Brother” in July.
The artist elaborates on the single:
“‘Untouchable’ was written and produced solo in my Hamburg home studio, with live drums added in a pro studio and mastering to tape. It explores emotional detachment—even in the presence of love and luck. Layered guitars and a steady groove reflect that tension.”
