OTHEOSE – “No Answers Given”

“No Answers Given” is a consuming electronic pop production from Toronto-based artist OTHEOSE, developing from brooding bass-laden bustling into riveting synth work and vocal layers. The release follows up the excellent “Sundown,” which caught our ears in June. Both tracks — featuring on upcoming full-length album Continental Drift — excel with memorably atmospheric and melodically emotive prowess.

A textured electronic pop appeal, with palpable emotion, lingers throughout. “Think I wanna feel something,” dreamy vocals yearn during a climactic bridge, where buzzing synths culminate into an invigorating vocal soaring: “the space inside, between desires and my mind, is missing.” The lyricism artfully conveys the desire for answers, and whatever soul-searching those responses can remedy. An especially impactful sequence takes hold prior to the three-minute turn, where effect-laden vocals exude gripping theatrics into another delightful “space inside” hook. “No Answers Given” is another showcase in quality songwriting and savvy production from OTHEOSE, the project of Kevin Krouglow.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
