Tampa-based singer-songwriter Zack Morris unveils a stirring folk, pop, and rock cohesion on new single “Good Enough,” which ruminates on personal change in the face of tumult. The track draws from a variety of personal experiences. “During different periods of my life, I’ve felt overwhelmed by anxiety that comes from the feelings of disbelief and being unsatisfied with where I’m at in my life, and if I’ll ever become the person I believe I can become,” Morris says. “I wrote this song for anyone who feels the same way, to help them believe they can become someone better.”
The track stirs in its folk-pop entrancement and lyrical sincerity, conveying a sense of personal in-between and reluctance to change — though also celebrating one’s strengths, and finding confidence in what lies ahead. “It comes in like a wave, pulling me under, I’m not sure how much I can take,” Morris’ lush vocals let out amidst steady acoustic strums.
The expressive central hook arrives thereafter with stirring emotion. “Maybe I’ll be good enough this time, ’cause god knows I’ve tried,” Morris lets out. “Why do I try to hold on so tight? If I let go I’ll be fine.” Magnetic guitar work bolsters the momentum, and then into a folk-set conclusion. While some people change “like the seasons,” “Good Enough” struts the power of valuing yourself as you are, proving to be an emotively moving success throughout.
