Described as “about a fight against a creeping shadow within,” “Elephant Graveyard” is a darkly gripping rocker from Train Conductor. The project first caught our ears in 2023 with the track “Arroyo Butterfly” — which excelled in its rise from fuzzy intrigue to radiant psych-rock harmoniousness. “Elephant Graveyard” continues to show a knack for constructing invigorating rock soundscapes with strong psychedelic appeal, punctuated by a fantastic guitar solo by Fort Worth, TX-based guitarist Denver Williams at the track’s conclusion.
Consuming across its 6+ minutes, “Elephant Graveyard” succeeds on a mix of nocturnal allure — evident in the title-touting sequence, with prancing keys amidst the twangy guitars — and more blaring moments of rock ardor, emphasized most in the “let it rip” declaration into southern-y guitar tones and also Denver Williams’ scorching solo. “Elephant Graveyard” is a charismatic psych-rock success from Train Conductor that evolves with sating immersion.
