Jane Honor – “Bloodhungry”

Jane Honor‘s riveting new single “Bloodhungry” melds brooding rock and engaging atmospherics. NYC-born and LA-based, she channels wholly relatable emotions — jealousy, comparison, and insecurity — into a compelling track that balances vulnerable lyricism with soaring instrumentation, leaving us firmly anticipating her forthcoming EP. The production also excels in its balance and variety, featuring textured synths, moody guitars, and nuanced piano, framing her expressive, dynamic vocals.

A cohesion of striking instrumentation kickstarts the track; twangy guitars, frolicking plucks, stately piano, and buzzing synths maneuver seamlessly into the “I’ll follow you right back, tell you all that I can say” vocal unveiling. Her vocals are commanding in their dynamic tonal delivery throughout, moving from the more solemnly introspective beginnings into a soaring ardor — fondly reminiscent of Weyes Blood as lyrical ruminations on jealousy and festering emotions pair with an escalated rhythmic background.

The enthralling “to know me” chorus dazzles throughout, and especially upon the bolstering of further synths past the track’s mid-point. Jane Honor’s vocals elongate there with impactful immersion, then capped off by a delectable range of magnetic synths, bustling rhythms, and roaring guitars as the track comes to an excellent close. “Bloodhungry” is a thorough success from Jane Honor, stirring in its heartfelt vocal work and seamless blend of instrumentation.
