Juan Suena – “little minnow”

//

A hazy, twangy rock timelessness shines on “little minnow,” a gem of a track from Juan Suena. Smitten lyricism combines with warming guitar tones, exuding a McCartney-esque glow, as Suena’s vocals arrive into a lovely “have you ever seen the rain come down…” sequence. Through aquatic and celestial metaphors, the lyrics capture the bittersweet transition from guardian to observer: “You lead and I’ll follow ‘cross the sea and sky,” Suena’s vocals let out, following the “sweet dreams little minnow, I’m not far behind” reassurances. Gorgeous vocal harmonies and bursting guitar twangs delight across the minute, into a final, lasting “I’ll dream of you” adoration.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
