Veinmelter – “Starstreams”

//

“Starstreams” is an enveloping new track from Veinmelter, whose infusion of spacey electronic haunts, whirring guitar builds, and thumping rhythms makes for a wholly immersive sound. A strong vocal presence shines throughout as well, developing from creaky introspection into more soaring mid-point emotion, where the “I’ll hold a line” refrain thoroughly invigorates.

Thematically, the track also excels in capturing the strain of loving a toxic optimist, drifting into self-made orbit while ignoring emotional consequences. Lines like “you get high on the thrust of feels” spotlight escapism, and a general yearning for grounding connection amid unchecked positivity. “Starstreams” is an emotively impactful and strongly atmospheric gem from Veinmelter, which represents the project of multi-instrumentalist Winston Harrison. He began his music career playing bass for singer-songwriter Gabe Dixon. He then started ambient music project Fuzzmuzz. Veinmelter is his latest project, bringing together his love for textural ambient work and darker, hypnotic aesthetics.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
