Help Yourself to the Citrus – “Colors”

A recent track from Help Yourself to the Citrus, “Colors” blends warm, nostalgic bedroom folk with intimate vocals, soft acoustic strums, and subtle surreal textures. The duo of producer Lukas Keel and vocalist Ana Ruess craft a tender reflection on memory, friendship, and fleeting connections in this self-produced, glowingly textured first single from their forthcoming debut full-length album, Compost, out on April 1st.

“It was so sunny, the day we met,” daydreaming vocals let out amidst soft acoustic strums, reminiscing with warm and smitten immersion. “What colors do you see, when you think of me?” airy vocal layers let out amidst a glowing textural allure, then punctuated by a melancholic “if you think of me at all” punctuation. The shifts between comfortable retrospections to present-day questioning plays with artful impact, then delighting with an array of brass and glimmering lushness into the final minute. “Colors” is a caressingly memorable success from Help Yourself to the Citrus.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
