Nick Boeder – “Your Shadowed Doubts”

Colorado-based artist Nick Boeder consumes on his new track “Your Shadowed Doubts,” an affecting success he wrote after relocating to Boulder. “Your Shadowed Doubts” reflects Boeder’s autobiographical approach, shaped by years of social work and collaboration. Built on a minimalist two-chord framework and refined with producer Chris Beeble, the track succeeds in its emotional clarity and layered, climactic structure.

A steady rhythmic backing and debonair, intermittent guitars craft a melodically enticing sound to start, complemented seamlessly by a calming vocal emergence. “Time alone on this mountainside, all I know, my life was open wide,” Boeder’s vocals let out. A dreamy, reflective backing vocal element further compels as glimmering guitar twangs bolster more foreboding immediacy. “The end was near, but for some reason you could not hear,” the duet-ing vocals then arrive into fervent electric guitar doses.

The meditative array of guitars and rhythms complement an encouraging yet realistic vocal presence, direct in its “not a game this is real life” commentary, while also being encouraging in tracing the journey of life as benefitted by time and experience: “Time will show you will find your way. The more you know the less you need to say.” Life’s comparisons to the ebbs and flows of a river continue the artful lyricism, beckoning to go “deep inside” with heady allure as warming bass and serene vocals move into a sating conclusion.
