Patience Please – “Madelaine”

/

An affecting new track from West London-based trio Patience Please, “Madelaine” exudes a melodic yearning — vocally professing “I hope you come back to me” — as soft acoustic strums, twangy electric guitar, and heartfelt strings emerge with cohesive intertwining. The act has achieved acclaim for past singles like “Wasting Time,” “Miracle,” and “Pretend,” and now “Madelaine” showcases a more introspective touch of balladry within their ardent alt-pop pull.

“This song was written in a relaxed, open, and vulnerable state, where I felt free to spill my thoughts onto the page without judgement,” lead singer Ollie Palmer says. “It came from my first experience of heartbreak, a heady mix of confusion, hope and despair colliding at once. Those emotions naturally shaped the lyrics, leaving them simple and honest, allowing the music that followed to remain raw and uninhibited.”

Released today, “Madelaine” captivates with its ascent from more folk-accented vulnerabilities into a soaring, outpouring of emotion across the final minute. “So please don’t go thinking that it wasn’t meant to be,” Palmer’s vocals swell as the grandiose strings and guitar twanging move into a questioning of “when will you call?” — ultimately pondering “do I move on and just forget that you were mine?” in a personal quest for answers and finality. “Madelaine” flows with a gorgeous chamber-pop and alt-pop synergy, stirring in its openly emotional vocal pleas and bursting string incorporations.

In addition to Palmer on vocals, the band also includes Arthur Marriott on lead guitar and Tommy Lane on drums. “Madelaine” is poised to continue the project’s ascent, bolstered by a 2026 tour and recent radio support from outlets like BBC Introducing and Radio 2. Following the stellar, replay-inducing “Madelaine” we’re excited to hear what’s next.
