A resonating rocker out today, Purple Dots‘ track “Stared at the Sun” struts a sweeping psych-rock intensity. Crafted by Rotherham, UK-based songwriter Ryan Felvus alongside a seasoned studio band, the track reflects his instinctive, melody-driven process and resistance to digital polish. Escapist longing, soulful vocals, and evolving instrumentation intertwine naturally, resulting in a sound that tempts replays with its array of both hypnotic head-nodding and guitar solo-touched ardor. The track precedes the project’s debut album, due in 2026.
A layered, psych-rock splendor takes hold throughout — kickstarted by a solemn guitar pulsation that’s quickly complemented by a sturdy rhythm section and melodic vocals. “Say that you want a holiday, to oblivion,” the vocals let out, then encouraging to “pack your bags in the morn.” Seamless alternations between that initial guitar pulse and hazier strums further the intrigue.
The escapist themes compel as well, with the “swept high by the wave” vocal remarks preceding an especially riveting expanse. There, colorful organs and gorgeous vocal harmonies bolster a magnetic vocal lead, exuding a title-touting marveling as twangy guitars inject beautifully. The powerful, harmonious rock qualities ring out, continuing into a scorching-hot guitar solo that delights into the fervent conclusion. “Stared at the Sun” is a standout success from Purple Dots.
