Dakota Dry – “Why Can’t You Free Me”

/

A beautifully unfolding track from California based award-winning singer-songwriter Dakota Dry, “Why Can’t You Free Me” is amongst the many highlights on her recent debut album, The Edge of Our Never Ending Universe. Its “back to the ocean…” vocal movement into the gorgeous string-laden addition makes for a riveting, scene-setting moment — traversing thereafter into an emotive “it floats away” spine-tingling and rumbling rock-ready outro. Its initial arsenal reminds fondly of Weyes Blood, while the anthemic send-off shows shades of Wolf Alice. The result is an enveloping, all-out success.
