Lana Crow – “In Spirit”

“In Spirit” pulsates with a retro-modern energy, marking another memorable track from British singer-songwriter Lana Crow. Rooted in a literal dream, this anthemic mover evolves from a chill keyboard loop into a vibrant dance track. The release continues Crow’s fantastic run of standout songwriting, catching our ears in recent months with excellent tracks like “What Brings You Back” and “Orwellian Times.”

Nocturnal synth pulses and throbbing percussion drive into Crow’s initially relaxed vocal presence, asking “do you believe in magic?” and then quipping “just say you do, we’ll chase it in my garden.” The rhythmic backing increases steadily in energy as the synths continue to glimmer with bouncy amiability, moving into a sense of catharsis as Crow lets out: “Your magic, it has always been right here.” There’s a sense of effervescent, empowering allure as the track progresses from garden-set mystery into an infectious call to “throw hands up in the air / wave them like you don’t care!”

“I just want to dance all night,” the vocals now assume a jubilant, celebratory quality, bolstered by vibrant, spacey synth tones that meld seamlessly with the magnetic vocal presence. “In Spirit” is another melodically memorable output from Lana Crow, whose ability to combine honest storytelling with replay-inducing hooks has been apparent across multiple recent tracks.

This and other tracks featured this month can be streamed on the updating Obscure Sound’s ‘Emerging Singles’ Spotify playlist.
