Matthew Spreen – “B Movie”

A gorgeous production invoking retro-cinema intrigue across sweeping string arrangements and moving vocal work, “B Movie” is a captivating track from Matthew Spreen.

The Montreal-based artist crafts a sound both oddly familiar and strikingly original, warming and nostalgic with touches of eerie allure. “You’re gonna make it out alive, if your heart is true,” Spreen’s haunting vocals emerge amidst slight string adornments, which take off with full grandiosity as his vocals assume a multi-layered enthusiasm. Lyrical sentiments exude fear and anxiety as the track inches to a close, there adorned with subdued acoustic strums as Spreen’s vocals conclude with heartrending sincerity. “B Movie” is a thorough success.
